According to research by Goodbody Stockbrokers, house prices  in Ireland have hit their lowest ebb and could remain at such levels for many years to come. From the average price peak of €314,000 in 2007, the price of houses and apartments now currently average €100,000.

Prices have dropped to such a level that a single person only needs just under three times the average national income (€36,000) to get a property. However, the study stresses that the current restriction of mortgage availability is holding back recovery of the Irish property market.

Given recent news that Irish banks are getting ready to increase mortgage lending, there never seems to be a better time to look for your first mortgage or looking to trade up.
